Eventually Epperson sold the rights to his invention to the Joe Lowe Company in New York, and the double-stick Popsicle was born. It was a hit because it allowed two children to share the same treat for the same price.

The Lowe Company soon expanded its line of ice pops, creating several flavors. The best-seller was cherry. It also introduced the first flavored popsicles that came in an attractive, plastic-coated can.
